Kai decided to take over the vocal duties, I don’t think it was so unstable

I have mentioned before that the appeal of Kai Hansen’s vocals is not his ability to skillfully hit the right notes, but his ability to lift the listener’s spirits with his powerful shouts.

In other words, it is also true that I felt he did not hit the notes very well.

However, right after Ralf Scheepers left “Gamma Ray” and Kai decided to take over the vocal duties, I don’t think it was so unstable.

On the album “Land Of The Free,” his voice is quite clear, and there is less instability.

Even the live album “Alive ’95” (although overdubbed), I think the quality is good enough to listen to.

Is Kai himself continuing to sing despite his distress

As I said, his voice suddenly became unstable from “Somewhere Out In Space” after “Land Of The Free”.

This may be a distant cause of my not liking this album very much.

As one gets older, one’s voice often does not sound the way one wants it to.

Is Kai himself continuing to sing despite his distress, or is he so satisfied with his performance that he is not looking for a replacement?

Either way, I sincerely hope that Kai’s voice, which I love, will be returned.

(Postscript)

“Gamma Ray” now has a new vocalist, Frank Beck, who joined the band in 2015 and they are singing together.

Maybe it was still hard for him because he lost his high notes.

Ironically, the album “Empire of the Undead” released in 2014 is terribly good.

Will they sing together on the next album?

Then again, Kai Hansen and Michael Kiske have combined with “Helloween” to release another great album.

Of course, Kai’s voice can also be heard.

Still going strong, Kai Hansen!
