Purely because I like the sound they make
The band I have seen live show the most is definitely “Ningen Isu”.
I have probably seen them about 10 times in total.
I am from Aomori Prefecture, and I am often told that I am a fan of the band because I am from the same hometown.
It is true that I got to know “Ningen Isu” because they are from my hometown (they are also my senior in high school), but now I listen to them purely because I like the sound they make.
The reason why I have seen them live show so many times is because I live in Aomori Prefecture, and “Ningen Isu” often performs in my hometown, Aomori Prefecture, so I have more opportunities to see them than other bands.
It is not easy for other bands to come to the Aomori area.
The live show of “Ningen Isu” has an cozy atmosphere.
The band’s music is heavy and the lyrics are often eerie, but the good nature of the band’s personality comes through in their MC.
The fact that they are not overly aggressive makes them comfortable.
Setlist is very varied
Slayer, for example, has quite many “Songs that must be played in concert”.
If those songs are arranged, there is no room for the songs that are not played very often.
This is the reason why the set list of “Slayer” does not look the same.
However, “Ningen Isu” is different.
There are some “Songs that must be played in concert”, but they are few.
Even if they don’t play “Dynamite”, “Hell” and “Hellscape” can be substituted.
The last song “Hell’s Mountain of Needles” could be the last song.
In other words, the setlist is very varied.
There were always a few songs, other than the new ones, that were “heard live for the first time”.
This is a proof that the band’s performance ability is high and that they have practiced a lot.
They played “Kimi-wa-Senju-Kannon (You are the Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara)”.
When I once saw a live performance of “Ningen Isu” in Shibuya, Miura Jun and Ohtsuki Kenji came as guests.
This was the only time I saw Kenji Ohtsuki live.
Of course, it was “Ningen Isu” and these two, so they played “Kimi-wa-Senju-Kannon (You are the Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara)”.
I was really impressed by that song.
I know this is a bit rambling, but please bear with me, I’m just listing my memories.
I wonder if “Ningen Isu” will come to Aomori Prefecture again.

(Postscript)
It has been 12 years since I wrote this article.
Time flies.
Even now, without a doubt, the band I’ve seen the most is “Ningen Isu”.
I’ve seen them more times than I can count.
The above observation that the setlist is varied is right on the mark, even for me.
The current “Wriggling in the Dark” tour is a perfect example of this.
It seems that the band will continue to captivate us and win our hearts and minds for a long time to come.
