In the beginning
“Galneryus” was coming to Aomori, and I couldn’t help but go to the show!
Aomori has a small population and the number of metal heads is absolutely small, so it’s hard to expect a large turnout, but I’m so thankful!
“Galneryus” is an ideal of a heavy metal band!
I bought my ticket early, so I was number 30.
You’ve never seen “Galneryus” so close in the city.
…I thought with enthusiasm, but the doors opened at 6:30 p.m. and I arrived at 6:50 p.m.
Although I made it in time for the show, but I wish I had more time.
Weekdays are hard.
I changed my drink ticket for a beer and listened to the music while drinking.
I wonder why, but a jazzy song is playing.
I see T-shirts of LOUDPARK 2006, “Sex Machineguns,” “Kamelot,” etc.
In general, there are fewer band T-shirts and more people seem to be dressed a little chalet like “Galneryus” on stage.
I finished my beers and the show started shortly after.
Well, I was really on the edge of my seats.
Redstar Rising
As expected, the first song of the new album “Vetelgyus” was played.
Wow! So close!
The band members were almost within arm’s reach!
Endless Story
The band followed the flow of the album in order.
This is the explosion of Syu’s metal songs.
Melodic, powerful, and fast.
I thought the lyrics were not suitable for power metal when I heard it on the album, but I didn’t mind at all at the live performance.
The sound quality is super clear, and the vocals are clearly audible (it’s rare to hear such clear vocals at a live performance).
It’s the best.
There’s No Escape
In order from the new album.
This is one of my favorite songs from the new album.
The melody of the theme is very pleasant.
But what a sense of stability in the performance.
How good this band is!
Ultimatum
The fourth song from the new album in order.
I thought they were going to play the whole new album.
I felt this was the most subdued song in the new album.
Here was the MC.
He said, “Today we are going to play a lot of songs from the new album”.
Indeed, they are playing a lot.
The Guide
Finally, they deviated from the order of the songs on the album.
It is still a song from the new album, though.
The melody of this song sounded like “Survival Dance” from “trf”.
The venue was small, and the stage seemed much smaller for “Galneryus” with a keyboardist.
The bassist was always in the back of the stage, but it was cool that he came to the front at some important moments.
The bass player is also very good.
Enemy To Injustice
My favorite of the new album.
The melody is too beautiful!
The development is complex and well done.
Like many (if all) power metal bands, “Galneryus” is beginning to lose the simplicity of its music.
So, I welcome such a new and innovative song, and I am very happy with the quality of it.
Vetelgyus
This is the title track of the album and an instrumental.
It was a great performance by guitarist Syu and keyboardist Yuhki, who put their hands on their hips and glared at each other before the song, as if to say, “Now let’s play”.
The guitar and keyboard solos were a constant battle.
This is another innovative song.
The Judgement Day
A fast running number.
Syo appeared on stage again.
But his singing ability is amazing.
It’s almost the same as the album.
MC.
Syo said it was cold in the dressing room but hot in the venue.
The next song will be cut as a single.
Attitude To Life
A power ballad.
Syo’s presence on the ballad was tremendous.
He has been a solo singer for many years, and I was convinced that he is someone who gets paid to sing.
I honestly thought I would be willing to pay money to hear him sing, and it made me wonder if that is what a singer is like.
There are not many metal singers who are this good.
Secret Love
It’s a pop metal song…but it’s addictive.
It has a Japanese metal style, and I welcome this kind of thing.
Waving our hands left and right, like the last song of a live performance.
Bash Out!
Finally, the band played a song from the old album.
I was reminded that this is what a record release concert is like.
The audience had to shout at certain parts of the song, and it was very exciting.
I was expecting the encore, but this is when they played it.
The band pushed hard with riffs, which was unusual for “Galneryus”.
I Wish
The last song on the album (except for the instrumental).
The melody is not as beautiful as in the past, but it’s a nice, sad melody.
Encore from here.
Alone
Another pop-oriented song with Syo’s vocal.
High quality.
The Promised Flag
The eyes were glued to Syu, who played as fast as he could.
His playing makes me think that it is possible to play fast for as long as they want.
It’s a sensation that raises the bar within me.
It was fuckin’ wonderful.
The second encore.
Angel Of Salvation
They brought this one for the last song!
It was perfect.
It is extremely difficult to create a long song that never gets boring.
Halloween” by “Helloween”, “Art Of Life” by “X Japan,” I can’t give too many examples.
This is a very well-crafted song.
I assure you, it is a masterpiece that will remain in the history of “Galneryus”.
I’m about to cry.
In the End
This was the first time for “Galneryus” to perform in Aomori.
Judging from the turnout, it might be their first and last time.
Still, as a resident of Aomori, I was very happy to see them perform.
Sure, Aomori is underpopulated and there may not be many customers, but please come back!
I think that’s why only the core fans showed up, and I beg you to take care of these areas!
The “Headbang” magazine is selling well, and I feel that prejudice against Japanese metal is decreasing compared to a decade ago.
For those who are still prejudiced, listen to “Angel Of Salvation”!
It will knock your mind out of your skulls and about 4,000 scales will fall from your eyes!
Yes, I was also impressed by the presence of a foreign audience.
Japanese metal music has the power to transcend national borders and reach the hearts of all people.

(Postscript)
This concert was a valuable experience for me.
After all, Aomori has not been on the tour schedule since then, unfortunately.
In the past, there was an atmosphere in the industry that foreign bands were the metal, and Japanese metal was the heresy.
This was probably due in large part to the policy of the dominant metal magazine, Burrn!
The story of how they gave a score of zero to the debut album of “SeikimaⅡ” is well-known (although they seem to have made peace with it now).
I wrote the above article in 2014.
As I mentioned in the text, it was around this time that the release of Headbang began, and slowly and gradually it seemed to be spreading that it wasn’t just a Burrn! value system.
A good example is the worldwide success of “Babymetal”.
It is also symbolic that Akira Takasaki was the first Japanese on the cover of Burrn!
Magazine must have felt the diversification of values and had no choice but to change its direction little by little.
However, there are still some metal heads who have not updated their thinking from the old Burrn!
Such a person has 4,411 followers on Twitter, so he is now the Dappi of the metal world.
