Cryptopsy -World’s fastest man-

Greatest weapon of his drumming is the versatility of his playing

No other band plays such complex and technical death metal.

The drumming of Flo Mounier is often talked about, and it is indeed impressive.

Super fast, yet that many moves.

However, when it comes to blast beats, my opinion of them is not that high.

As I have written before, the key to blast beats is “how much they can exite the listener”.

Listening to his blast beats does not exite me that much.

Rather, the greatest weapon of his drumming is the versatility of his playing.

He has a deep knowledge of jazz and is full of plays that do not appear in general death metal.

He does this at a fast tempo, making him a true superhuman.

There is no time to catch my breath

But the real charm of “Cryptopsy” is not Flo Mounier’s drumming.

It is the complexity and weirdness of the music.

Bizarre riffs that give a morbid impression appear and disappear one after another.

There is no time to catch my breath.

The development changes rapidly, and there is not much repetition of the same part.

The riffs and rhythms change one after another, and the listener must work very hard to keep up.

Listening to the whole album is very tiring.

It would be better if all the songs on the album were connected into a single song

This characteristic of little repetition is similar to that of “Blind Guardian”.

Also, the unpredictability of the next development is similar to the early “Children of Bodom”.

However, there is only one weak point.

Because many parts appear in one song, the impression of each song is blurred.

The characteristics and colors of each song do not emerge.

In fact, it would be better if all the songs on the album were connected into a single song.

But that would be a luxury, and something I wish I didn’t have.

“Cryptopsy” is definitely a rare band that gives you a feeling that is rarely experienced.

(Postscript)

Later, I was able to see “Cryptopsy” concert at LoudPark12.

The band was very dignified, and the audience was quite excited.

As for myself, I think I was mostly just watching the drumming.

Like “Phobophile”, the last song played at the end of the show, if I listen to the songs more, I may be able to see the individuality of each song.
